    • How can I learn how to register a course?
       You can access the course registration process from the main menu.

    • Where and when is the academic calendar announced?

      The academic calendar is determined by the Senate before the beginning of each academic year and announced on the web page of the Registrar's Office.

      The course plans of the undergraduate program you are enrolled in are announced on the web page of the Registrar’s.

    • Where and when is the Final Exam Schedule announced?

      You can access the final exam schedules of the undergraduate and graduate programs of the relevant semester on the web page of the Registrar’s on the dates announced in the Academic Calendar. You can also view your final exam schedule by logging in the Student Information System (SIS) with your user information.

       
    • Where is the information about course registrations and course schedules announced?

      It is published on the web site of Registrar’s.

    • I have blocked my Student Information System (SIS) login password (PIN), I cannot change it, what should I do?

      Entry to the Student Information System (SIS) has two stages. In the first step, the ITU Username and Password will be entered. If you have forgotten your ITU Username and Password, you should apply to the Information Technologies Directorate.

      If you have forgotten your password (PIN) or your web access is blocked in the second step of the Student Information System (SIS), you can get a new password (PIN) from the PIN Request Page.

      Graduates, students whose enrollment is canceled, or retired faculty members cannot change or unblock password (PIN).

    • I have just enrolled at the university and have a course adjustment. Can I change my automatically assigned course?

      You can request a course change as specified in the Registrar’s web page announcements.

    • When are the names of the lecturers announced whose names are not visible in the course schedule?
      They are announced on the first day of the lessons.
    • I see the building information in the course schedule, but I cannot see the classroom information. What should I do?

      Please contact with the Student Affairs of the department which has opened the course.

    • I will take courses from the undergraduate program for the first time, how can I register for courses?

      If you are successful in the English language proficiency exam at the beginning of the Fall Semester, the assignment of the courses you will take from the undergraduate program you enroll for the first time is made by the Registrar’s (except for the students who have an adjustment process, the Conservatory, Engineering Completion, Transfer or ExternalTransfer students).

      According to the regulations, you cannot change or add and remove the courses assigned by the Registrar’s.

      If you are going to start undergraduate education as Irregular, in the spring semester, you must make your course registrations through the Student Information System (SIS).

    • What does it mean to be irregular?

      Irregular refers to the status of the student who completed her/his prep class at the end of the first semester (fall semester), passed the Foreign Language Proficiency exam and started her / his education by taking courses from the undergraduate program s/he enrolled in the following semester (spring semester).

      Students who start their education as irregular can register for all courses that do not have prerequisites in the course plan in the spring semester when they are irregular. The maximum course credits s/he can take can be twenty-two (22).

    • I was successful in the English Language Proficiency exam held at the end of the 1st semester (Fall Semester) of the Preparatory Class. Do I have to take courses from the undergraduate program in the Spring Semester?

      No, if you do not want to take courses in the Spring semester, you have the right not to register for courses without any written statement. However, since your status will appear as a Preparatory class student, you cannot enroll for a course in summer school either.

    • What should be the amount of course credit that can be taken in any semester?

      Except for first-semester students and double major students, students who are not on the probation list must have a minimum of 15 credits and a maximum of 22 credits for the courses they can take in any semester.

      If necessary, the course load of at least 15 credits required per semester can be reduced by the decision of the administrative board of the faculty enrolled in.

      In the event that the courses to be repeated or to take for the first time are overlapped, some or all of the courses in the course plan of the semester to be registered may not be taken. However, not being able to register for the course for this reason does not prevent the teaching period from running.

    • What should I do to increase the course credit load I can take? In what cases can I increase credit?

      To increase the course credit load, you must apply to the Faculty Dean's Office / Conservatory Directorate where you are registered.

      As per the relevant article of the Undergraduate Education Regulation; Students with a weighted grade point average of 2.25 can take 25 credits, while students with a weighted grade point average of 3.00 can take over 25 credits. Students with the specified averages do not need to make any application to increase their credit.

      If you are a senior student, your credit load can be increased by the decision of the Faculty Board, provided that it is not on the probation list.

    • Who are taken to the Probation List?

      Students in the first and second year with a weighted grade point average of 1.80 at the end of any semester, a weighted grade point average of 1.90 in the third grade, and a weighted grade point average of 2.00 in the fourth grade are taken into the probation list. Among the students enrolled in international dual degree programs, those with a weighted grade point average below 1.90 at the end of any semester are taken into the probation list.

      The credit load of students placed on the probation list can be up to 18 in a semester. If offered, they can take the courses they failed previously, accomplished conditionally and / or met their prerequisites, regardless of semester.

    • How can I get into the Honor / High Honor list?

      If your weighted grade point average is at least 2.00 and you have taken and succeeded at least 18 credit courses in that semester; If your final grade point average is between 3.00-3.49, you are defined as "Honor", if you are between 3.50-4.00 "High Honor" student. If you have an FF or VF in your transcript in the relevant semester, you cannot be an "Honor" or "High Honor" student even if your GPA is sufficient.

    • What should I do to raise my weighted grade point average?

      In order to increase your GPA, you can retake the courses you have taken before. Final grades are valid for these courses. However, you cannot repeat the course you passed with an AA grade, if you register, your course will be dropped.

    • Can I take a course coded MT-TM-TB-ITB (elective course) other than the course I failed in MT-TM-TB-ITB courses (elective courses)?

      Yes, you can take. In order to graduate, if you complete the number of elective courses specified in your lesson plan, the elective course you failed does not prevent your graduation. However, the grade of each elective course is added to your weighted grade average.

    • Is it compulsory to provide the prerequisites for the courses? Where can I get information about prerequisites?

      Yes. You must first take the prerequisite course of the courses that have prerequisites in your lesson plan and be successful. Otherwise, you cannot register for the course. Prerequisites are applied in the semester following the announcement date.

      If the prerequisite course is equivalent to another course, the student must apply with a petition to the faculty s/he is enrolled in.

      When the faculty makes a decision, course registration is made by the Registrar’s.

    • How are course quotas increased?

      The quotas of the courses, which are reported to be increased in line with the demands of the Faculty Dean, Department Head or the relevant Coordinators, are automatically increased during the hours announced on the website of the Registrar's Office.

    • I did not complete the course registration renewal on the dates specified in the academic calendar. When and how can I register for a course?

      Your registration restriction is automatically removed by the system after you deposit the fee determined in the fined registration week specified in the academic calendar to the relevant bank account. You can make your course selection by checking your registration disability from the SIS system.

    • Can I register for another course with overlapping hours?

      No, you cannot.

    • Can I register for a course which is not in my plan?

      You cannot register for a course that is not in your lesson plan.

    • Can English of the course be taken for a course which is in Turkish in the lesson plan?

      Yes, it can be.

    • Can I graduate with missing credit?

      You cannot graduate with missing credit. However, although you have met all the lessons and other requirements in your lesson plan, lesson plan changes, lesson adjustments, etc. there are still missing credits,  you can graduate with the decision of the Faculty Board of Directors.

    • Can I continue a course in a different CRN with the same code and not attend the registered course

      You shouldn't continue. If you do, the grade of the course you enrolled in at the end of the semester is considered as Fail or Visa Fail. The grade of the course you are attending cannot be recorded in the Student Information System (SIS) since you are not registered.

    • How can I register for a course in case of cancellation of leave (registration freezing)?

      The Faculty Board of Directors decision regarding the cancellation of your leave (registration freezing) must be reported to the Registrar's Office. The cancellation decision is processed by theRefistrar’s, your course registration restriction is removed. You can register for courses on the dates specified in the academic calendar.

    • Can I withdraw from the course I am registered? How does the grade of the course I witdrew from look like on my transcript?

      You can withdraw from a course you have registered during the "withdrawal from a course" week specified in the Academic Calendar. You cannot withdraw from the course in the first semester when your course registration is made for the first time. You can withdraw from one course at most per semester. During the undergraduate education, you can withdraw from a maximum of seven courses.

      T: It is the sign showing that students withdrew from a course they are registered in within the specified period, the courses students withdrew are not included in the weighted grade average.

    • How is it decided whether or not to open course in summer education, where should I apply for a course to be opened?

      In the summer school, the relevant administrative boards decide whether a course should be opened or not and the conditions for opening it.

      Although it has not been announced to be opened before, courses with sufficient number of students can be opened with the decision of the relevant board.

      In order to open a course that has not been opened, you must apply to the Faculty Dean / Conservatory Directorate where you are registered.

    • What should I do in order to take courses from another university during the summer school?

      You can take courses from another Higher Education Institution with the decision of the Faculty / Conservatory Board of Directors. For this, you must apply to the Faculty Dean / Conservatory Directorate with a petition.

    • How many credits can be taken in summer education?

      In the summer education, the student can take a maximum of 12 credit courses from inside and outside ITU.

    • Can I drop a course in summer school?

      You can drop a course on the dates announced in the academic calendar for "Drop a Course and Register for Another Course", you cannot add / drop courses after this date.

       
    • If I do not pay the summer tuition fee, will the courses I have enrolled in will be dropped?

      Yes.

       
    • I am a student at another Higher Education Institution, I want to take lessons from ITU during Summer education. What should I do?

      You can access the announcement regarding the required information, documents and application dates to take courses from the summer school on http://www.sis.itu.edu.tr/eng/ on the dates specified in the academic calendar of that year.

    • I want to take English lessons from your institution in summer education, is it necessary to provide language proficiency?

      In order to take English lessons in summer education at our university, you must submit one of the language proficiency required by ITU.

    • I cannot register for a semester course, what are the situations that prevent me from registering?

      You may not add or drop classes to holds on your record.

      If you are on leave in the relevant semester, if you have not paid tuition fee/fee, you have a library restriction, Erasmus (Transcript - Grant) restriction, if you are an international student and have residence permit restriction, you cannot register for your course.

    • What are the registration errors encountered during course selection?

      Time conflict with CRN : There is a course time conflict. One of these courses should be dropped.

      Department Restriction: It shows that the department where you studied that semester does not allow you to take that course. It is stated in the course schedule from which department students can take that course.

      Class Restriction: Indicates that the class prerequisite for this course is not met.

      Prereguisite and Test Score error: Indicates that the course prerequisite is not met.

      Level Restriction: It shows that the course (CRN and CODE) to be enrolled is not suitable for the level you are registered (undergraduate-internationaldual degree-graduate etc.)

      Maximum Hours Exceed: Indicates that you have exceeded the maximum amount of course credit you can enroll in.

      Reserve Closed: Indicates that there is no quota allocated for the program you are enrolled in or is full

      Duplicate Course with Section CRN: Indicates that you want to register for another CRN opened for the same course.

      Duplicate equivalent with Section CRN: Indicates that you want to enroll in equivalent courses.

      You have made too many attempts to register this term: Indicates that you have tried too many times to get the lesson. In order to remove the restriction, you must apply to the Registrar’s with a petition.
    • Can I register for a graduation project course without enrolling in a senior class?

      You can register for the graduation project course within the conditions specified in the relevant senate principles. If it is determined that you do not meet the requirements, you are deregistered from the course.

    • I am enrolled in a program where the medium of instruction is 30% English, can I take Turkish course instead of a compulsory English course?

      You can take the Turkish course of the English course in your plan, you must meet the 30% English credit requirement and submit a petition to your faculty.

    • Can I take a course to increase my grade point average after I meet the graduation requirements?

      No, you cannot. 

    • How can I benefit from the unlimited exam right?

      To take advantage of the unlimited exam right, you must apply to the Faculty Dean / Conservatory Directorate.
